Synopsis
Beneath the Lion’s Rock, many Hong Kong people strive to make themselves rich and famous in this small and crowded place. The drastic changes in Alan’s (Andy Lau) life and the stories happened to those ordinary people around him are all too vividly shown in this film. There are Maria (Carol Gordon), a foreign businessman’s mistress and Ah Fai (Newton Lai), an honest construction worker. Ah Hung (Isabella Kau) is a factory worker who dreams to become a famous signer. Uncle Foo (Ku Feng) is a stubborn watchman. Then, there is Ah Ting (Chu Hoi Ling), an illegal immigrant from China. Their various goals in life including a luxurious lifestyle, a romantic relationship and foreign passports, sometimes, demand more than what they can afford to give.
