Fukushima prefecture, Japan, the present day. After some 20 years in Tokyo, Sawada Jiro (Matsuyama Kenichi) finally returns to his family's farm, now inside the evacuation zone following the nuclear disaster of 11 Mar 2011. After suddenly abandoning his family because of a disagreement, Jiro never returned, even for the funeral of his father, a local bigshot. Jiro's elder half-brother, Soichi, lives with his wife Misa, young daughter Naho and Jiro's senile mother, Tomiko (Tanaka Yuko), in a small temporary housing unit. Still angry about the devastation and the lack of accountability by those responsible, Soichi has refused to accept the government's indemnity money. Jiro starts farming the family's land, even though it is inside the irradiated zone. Jiro is told by the police that he must abandon his family's land, but he refuses…
