In this captivating Japanese drama directed by Tomokazu Yamada, viewers are taken on a poignant journey through love, loss, and rediscovery. Set against the backdrop of Tokyo, the film weaves a delicate tale of Shun Fujishiro (Takeru Satoh), a psychiatrist on the brink of marrying his fiancée Yayoi Sakamoto (Masami Nagasawa). However, a letter from his past love, Haru Iyoda (Nana Mori), rekindles emotions that unravel the fabric of his present.

Yamada's direction shines in capturing the emotional complexities of the characters, with Satoh delivering a compelling performance as Shun. His chemistry with Nagasawa and Mori is palpable, adding depth to the narrative. The cinematography by Keisuke Imamura elevates the storytelling, painting each scene with a poetic touch that reflects the characters' inner turmoil.

Based on Genki Kawamura's novel, "Shigatsu ni Nareba Kanojo wa," the film delves into themes of love, regret, and the passage of time with a nuanced approach. The performances by the ensemble cast, including Taiga Nakano, Ayumu Nakajima, Yuumi Kawai, Rie Tomosaka, and Yutaka Takenouchi, further enrich the narrative, bringing to life a tapestry of emotions that resonate with the audience.

"April, Come She Will" is a heartwarming tale that stays with you long after the credits roll. While it may not break new ground in terms of storytelling, its sincerity and emotional depth make it a worthwhile watch for fans of romantic dramas. With its beautiful cinematography and strong performances, this film is a testament to the enduring power of love and the complexities of the human heart. (Neo, 2025)
