Kousuke Hasegawa (Ebizo Ichikawa) is cast for the stage play "Makoto Yotsuya Kaidan” which is based on the traditional ghost story Yotsuya Kaidan. The ghost story revolves around betrayal, murder, and the revenge of Tamiya Iemon and Oiwa. Kousuke Hasegawa plays main male character Tamiya Iemon and his girlfriend Miyuki Goto (Kou Shibasaki) plays main female character Oiwa.
Kousuke Hasegawa landed the role due to Miyuki Goto’s recommendation, but Kousuke Hasegawa continues cheating on her by having intimate relationships with other actresses involved in the same stage play.
Meanwhile, Miyuki Goto has trouble separating her real self from the character of Oiwa.
