The filmmaking career of property developer turned Milkyway chairman and film director, Dennis Law has been an interesting one. One that is actually quite prolific across numerous genres from coming of ages romance to martial arts and action films to the erotica and exploitative genre. Law is a director with ambitions and ideas, but as a director he suffers from often poor directing and execution. In his venture into the erotica genre and filmed on Thailand notorious nightlife scenes, the film seems extremely realistic and sex scenes are so common that they are often trivialised. Such is the reality of the red light district that sex workers face on a day to day basis.

Newcomer Sheung Lam plays the lead role as the “shemale” sex worker at a bar owned by terrible owners who only cares about profits and gangs. Lam is required to play with many explicit sex sequences and does well to create a raw relationship with fellow sex worker played by Koyi Mak (shines in the Cat 3 film - “Lazy Hazy Crazy”). Mak performs well once again as the reluctant sex worker who simply chores through life after a mysterious event that turned her from being the boss of the bar to being used as for sex. Mak performs best out of the cast of inexperienced cast.

All in all, there are a lot of darker moments in the film that makes suicidal people a common practice amongst sex workers in Thailand. Life is tough and the final twist in to the gore and brutal genre is a clear attempt by Law to disguise the lack of story in the process. The cast does well and is no afraid to show the required among of skins as needed. However, in terms of filmmaking, we have probably seen far worst from Law previously directed films. In terms of genre originality, Law manages to put his head in and unafraid to show the darker sides of the erotica and gore genre. Not one for the faint hearted.

I rated it 6/10
