“A Quiet Place: Day One” takes us back to the early stages of the alien invasion in New York City. Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, this prequel and spin-off in the A Quiet Place film series offers a visually immersive experience with minimal dialogue.

The film showcases humanity's struggle for survival through intense close-ups and raw emotions. While some scenes excel more than others, the bar scene stands out as Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn find resonance in shared experiences. The final escape sequence is also captivating, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

Despite its minor flaws and pacing issues, “A Quiet Place: Day One” delivers a thought-provoking and engaging experience. The performances are commendable, particularly Nyong'o, Quinn, and Alex Wolff, who bring depth to their characters. Djimon Hounsou's reprisal adds continuity to the story. Overall, the film is a solid addition to the series, offering a unique perspective on the post-apocalyptic world.

With its silent storytelling, intense atmosphere, and moments of truth, it provides an immersive and thrilling cinematic experience. Making it a recommended watch for fans of the series and those who appreciate suspenseful cinema.

I rated it 7.5/10
